November 1966 and Uncle John (Junior) appeared on Hughie Greens Opportunity Knocks,
with The Haymakers a local folk band singing The Irish Rover, this was a mean feat but
finishing in third position was a bigger compliment. The Haymakers inspiration at that time
were no different to any other folk band in The Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem>
Uncle John passed away in 2000 and in the wake of this his sons and nephews formed 2 years later
"The Spirit Of Sixty 7" With their political views of the struggle in Ireland and complimented with an
undoubted musical talent a new generation was born in Folk/Rebel & Celtic music.
3 brothers Alan (Lead vocals & Guitars) Skid (Bass & Harmonica) and
The Wee Man (Drums, Vocals & Taking the piss)
The bands biggest influences include the Clancy Bothers, The Dubliners, The Wolfetones,
The Beatles, Elvis, Johnny Cash, The Corries, Bob Marley , The Pogues and the fantastic
Christy Moore and Declan Sinnot.
